JASPER CARROTT SHOW

1985 - This was Loudon's most widely seen appearance on British TV. For eight weeks in January/February, he was the musical guest on 'Carrott Confidential', a kind of topical, satirical comedy programme, hosted by musician turned comedian Jasper Carrott. The series was broadcast 'live' at peak viewing time on a Saturday night, and was seen by millions every week.

Even now, mentioning this show is *the* best starting point for trying to tell an 'unbeliever' about Loudon, - often they can recall seeing him here (or on M*A*S*H).

He sang one song on each show, and some of them were specially written for the occasion.
The songs were as follows:
1. Surfer Queen
2. Talkin' President
3. You Don't Wanna Know
4. Superbowl Sunday
5. Nocturnal Stumble Butt,
6. Unrequited (to Nth degree)
7. I.D.T.T.Y.W.L.M
8. Harry's Wall

In 1995, Loudon wrote an excellent article for 'Mojo' Magazine, detailing his thoughts and experiences with this series, (and also on his other forays into the world of TV). You can read it here.

The programmes were repeated on satellite channel UK Gold a few years ago, (though I only saw the three programmes featured here).

Words and Music

WORDS AND MUSIC

1990 - Another BBC program. Various singer / songwriters, were each asked to talk about and then sing one of their songs.

Loudon's selection was the 'Anniversary Song' from the recently released 'Therapy.'

Soldier, Soldier

SOLDIER, SOLDIER

1992 - Channel 5 recently showed a 30 second clip of him in ITV's military drama serial 'Soldier, Soldier'.

Loudon played a (married) American businessman who was having an affair with another woman (shown here).
